TC 134
Provenance: Fortuna Fine Arts, New York, 2004 Mr. R. Wagner, USA, 1940s – 1990s
Dimensions: H. 10 cm

This female figurine displays a characteristic style from the Halaf culture. The exaggerated breasts and hips are typical representations of a mother goddess figure during this Neolithic period. The figure is seated naked with arms folded over her breasts and possibly represented giving birth. These figures were probably used as votive offerings to a local divinity to guarantee fertility and protection.
